Development programme for software teams

Design principles the team uses in its own code, not just knows from talks.

We work through SOLID, DRY, KISS and YAGNI, and the pairing of Event Sourcing and CQRS, on problems the team actually faces.

Discuss the development programme

Where you are

Typical situations we help with

  1. 01

The code quickly becomes hard to change and the team does not know where to start.

  2. 02

The team knows design principles in theory but does not use them in its code.

  3. 03

You are moving to event-driven architecture, Event Sourcing or CQRS and want to avoid the typical mistakes.

  4. 04

The team works with coding agents and needs design rules so that agents and people write the same code.

What you get

Outputs that stay with you

  • a programme built around your team's code and problems
  • workshops on your own code and architectural decisions
  • a two-day Event-Driven Architecture training with an in-browser lab
  • design rules the team uses in code review and in prompts for agents

What we typically deliver

  • SOLID and the design of small objects with a single responsibility
  • DRY, KISS and YAGNI as one way of thinking about complexity
  • Event Sourcing and CQRS as one package
  • work on the team's own code and architectural decisions

OutcomeA team that uses these principles in its own code and knows when they help and when they add unnecessary complexity.

How we work together

From the first conversation to a validated outcome

01

First conversation

We find out what the team works on, where the code slows it down and what it wants to improve.

Output: programme goals
02

Code walkthrough

We go through part of your code and pick the problems the programme will be built on.

Output: programme content
03

Workshops and training

We work through the principles on your code, and the event-driven topics in a two-day training with a hands-on lab.

Output: a team that uses the principles
04

Follow-up support

As agreed, we help with code review and architectural decisions after the programme.

Output: principles in everyday work

FAQ

Good to know before we start

01Is the programme for junior or experienced developers?

For teams that already deliver software and want to design it more clearly. We adapt the content to the team's level.

02How long does the programme take?

The Event-Driven Architecture training takes two days. We set the length of the development programme according to the team's goals.

03Does it run on site or online?

As agreed. Workshops on code work best in person; part can be run online.

04Do you work with our code?

Yes, that is the core of the programme. We agree the rules for code access and confidentiality in advance.

Describe your situation in a few sentences. We will get back to you and arrange a first conversation after which you will know how to proceed.
